The present work was the artist’s gift to Billy Wilder during the filmmaker’s visit to Hockney’s home and studio in December 1990. Hockney had developed a fascination with “fax art” at the time and produced a variety of faxed drawings he would distribute to his colleagues and friends.

The original template used to generate these xeroxes is currently in the collection of the David Hockney Foundation.
